The North Shore Event Centre, 7065 N. Port Washington Road, will be demolished to make way for a new Hampton Inn.

An aging restaurant and banquet facility attached to the former Radisson Inn, 7065 N. Port Washington Road, Glendale, is expected to be replaced with a new four-story Hampton Inn.

When the 90-room Hampton Inn opens in 2020, it will become the third hotel built by Odyssey Hotels CEO Rachit Dhingra at the northwestern corner of Port Washington and Green Tree roads.

The Hampton Inn will replace the North Shore Event Centre, which includes several banquet rooms and Center Fields Sports Bar and Grill. The event center is scheduled for demolition in March 2019, Dhingra said.

Construction on the new Hampton Inn will begin in April or May, and could be completed in the third quarter of 2020.

South of the new Hampton Inn, Dhingra is planning a retail building, although he has not yet signed a tenant.

This site was previously home to a Radisson Inn. In 2016, Dhingra presented plans to renovate the hotel rooms on the rear side of the Radisson and build a new 8,000-square-foot lobby on the south side of the building. After nearly a year of renovations, the former Radisson is scheduled to reopen as a Fairfield Inn in March.

"It's pretty much like a brand-new property," Dhingra said.

The restaurant and banquet halls on the front side of the former Radisson Inn have operated under the North Shore Event Centre name for the past couple years.

The North Shore Event Centre's banquet halls were scheduled to receive some renovations, and Zambonie's Sports Bar and Grill was renamed as Center Fields Sports Bar. Despite those efforts, Dhingra said, the aging building presented too many issues.

"We decided the best thing to do was to just start with a clean slate," he said.

In addition to the new Hampton Inn and the like-new Fairfield Inn, Odyssey Hotels built a new Residence Inn, an extended-stay Marriott hotel, closer to Green Tree Road in 2017. Six years earlier, Dhingra built a new PNC Bank closer to the corner of Green Tree and Port Washington roads.

The Glendale Plan Commission was scheduled to consider Odyssey Hotels' specific implementation plan and certified survey map on Tuesday, Jan. 8.
